for Greenville Technical College Campuses and Locations
Per the Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act of 2000, which amends the Jacob Wetterling Crimes Against Children and Sexually Violent Offender Registration Act, the Jeanne Clery Act, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 [FERPA], the Greenville Technical College Police Department is required to provide links to local and state Sex Offender Registries. This act requires higher education institutions to issue a statement advising the campus community where law enforcement information provided by a State concerning registered sex offenders may be obtained. It also requires sex offenders already registered in a state to provide notice of each institution of higher education in that state at which the person is employed, has a vocation, or is a student.
South Carolina Sex Offender Registry
In early 2016, South Carolina moved to a new sex offender management application called SORT. The U.S. Department of Justice provides SORT at no charge to the state of South Carolina. SORT is designed to make the sex offender registry process as efficient and effective as possible. This streamlined process also provides improved information sharing across all jurisdictions. SORT provides community notifications and automatic updates to the National Sex Offender public website. Other features include multiple photographs of the offender over time, a visual map of where the offender lives, a list of aliases the offender has used in the past, and a list of all of the sexual-related offenses that an offender has been convicted of committing. The county sheriff's offices and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division update this information regularly to ensure that it is complete and accurate as possible.
The URL to access the main page of the registry is http://scor.sled.sc.gov/. You must agree to the terms and conditions on the main page. You will then redirect to a second page, which asks you to verify that you are not a robot by entering a code provided on the screen.
To access individual campus locations, please do a geographic search of the following addresses, with a minimum of 1-mile radius unless otherwise noted:
