Prohibited Modifications: To maintain the integrity of renovated, refurbished, and newly constructed buildings, the following modifications are strictly prohibited without prior approval from the Facilities Maintenance Department or the Office of Information Technology:
- Alterations to walls, doors, windows, floors, cabinets, shelves, lighting, or any other structures attached to the building.
- Installation of additional fixtures or any structural changes.
- Changes, modifications, or additions to technology equipment
Facilities Maintenance Authority:
- All construction, painting, repair, maintenance, and alterations must be performed exclusively by the Facilities Maintenance Department.
- No external contractors or unauthorized personnel are permitted to undertake such activities without prior approval.
- The Director of Facilities Maintenance maintains an overall maintenance plan for all college buildings.
- Facilities maintenance will honor the unity of buildings and the color boards for all repair, replacement, and painting.
Office of Information Technology Authority:
- All technology equipment, wiring, and network repair, maintenance, and alterations must be performed exclusively by the OIT department.
- No external contractors or unauthorized personnel are permitted to undertake such activities without prior approval.
- The Chief Information Officer maintains an information technology strategy for the institution and adheres to the plan for upgrades, repairs, and new installations.
Wall Attachments: Attaching items to walls, including taping, nailing, or using adhesives, is prohibited. Employees should use designated bulletin boards or other approved methods for displaying necessary information.
Personal Items and Office Decor:
- Professional Standards: Personal items in offices should be kept minimal and professional, maintaining a balance between individuality and the institution’s image.
- Design Consistency: Office furniture and decor should coordinate with the existing architectural design of the building.
- Alignment with Institutional Brand: Decor and personal items should be consistent with the institution's brand values and aesthetics. This includes the selection of colors, themes, and types of decorations.
- Public-Facing Offices: Personal decor should be minimal in offices that are open to or frequently visited by the public. These areas serve as a direct representation of our institution and should prioritize a clean, professional appearance.
Furniture
- Budget Administrators must make all requests for new office furniture, including conference and reception area furnishings, to the Purchasing Office, regardless of funding source.
- The Purchasing office is responsible for ensuring that furniture finishes and wood grains coordinate with interior color schemes.
- No office furniture is to be moved without the explicit permission of the Facilities Maintenance Department.
- Requests for moving furniture should be submitted through the appropriate channels and will be handled by Facilities staff to prevent damage to the building and furnishings.
Approval and Exceptions: The division Vice President must approve any exceptions to this policy.
