Working Hours
Time worked is all the time actually spent performing assigned job duties. For non-exempt law enforcement employees in the “JC” classification code, Greenville Technical College’s standard full-time work period is defined as twenty-eight (28) consecutive days, 171 hours of law enforcement.
- The twenty-eight (28) day work period for non-exempt law enforcement employees begins on Sunday at 12:00 a.m. and ends on Saturday at 11:59 p.m. Work schedules for law enforcement employees may vary according to the security needs of the college.
Compensatory Time
- This policy applies to non-exempt law enforcement personnel in the “JC” classification, which includes, but is not limited to the title: Law Enforcement Officer I.
- Compensatory time is earned when a law enforcement employee actually works over 171 hours in a twenty-eight (28) day work period. Paid hours during which an employee is not actually working (e.g., annual leave, sick leave, compensatory time, etc.) are not “hours worked” for purposes of calculating overtime/compensatory time eligibility.
- Eligible law enforcement employees may accumulate up to 480 hours of compensatory time.
- For an employee who has accumulated 480 hours of compensatory time, all compensatory time earned over 480 hours will be paid in the next payroll.
- Holiday compensatory time will be granted in accordance with Section 19-708.04 of the State Human Resources Regulations and SBTCE Procedure 8-3-108.1 [Holidays].
Recordkeeping
- Non-exempt law enforcement employees are required to record their time daily using GTC’s timekeeping system. Refer to Greenville Technical College’s Administrative Policy 8-02 Time and Attendance for clocking in and out.
- Working hours will be evaluated on a monthly basis for non-exempt employees and compensatory time will be recorded appropriately based on the 28 day work period.
