Annual Leave: Permanent, full-time staff earn annual leave at a rate of one and ¼ days for each month of continuous employment. Employees must work at least ½ of the workdays of the month to accrue leave earned for that month. After ten years of service, employees begin to earn bonus leave. A maximum of thirty (30) days annual leave may be taken in a calendar year and a maximum of forty-five (45) days annual leave may be carried over as of January 1.
Unclassified Faculty: Permanent full-time faculty will receive twenty-one (21) scheduled, inclusive of holidays, and two (2) unscheduled paid faculty non-work days each academic year. Teaching and non-teaching faculty who work during the summer months may be eligible to receive up to five (5) additional paid faculty non-work days inclusive of holidays. Teaching & non-teaching faculty accrue bonus faculty non-work days each year based on years of service.
Sick Leave: Permanent, full-time faculty and staff earn sick leave at a rate of one and ¼ days for each month of continuous employment. Employees must work at least ½ of the workdays of the month to accrue leave earned for that month. A maximum of one hundred eighty (180) days sick leave may be carried over as of January 1.
Family Sick Leave: Employees may use up to 10 days family sick leave in the fiscal year to care for immediate family members. For the purposes of family sick leave "immediate family" means the employee's spouse and children and the following relations to the employee or the spouse of the employee: mother, father, brother, sister, grandparent, or legal guardian and grandchildren if the grandchild resides with the employee and the employee is the primary caretaker of the grandchild. The amount used will be deducted from your sick leave balance.
Family Death: Employees are allowed up to 3 consecutive days of leave with pay upon the death of immediate family members. For the purpose of family death, immediate family is defined as the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, legal guardians, brothers, spouse of brothers, sisters, spouse of sisters, children, spouse of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren of either the employee or the spouse. Employees requesting leave for family death must submit a statement to their supervisor stating the name and relationship of the deceased.
Court Leave: Employees summoned as a member of a jury panel or subpoenaed as a witness will be granted administrative leave with pay. The employee must provide a copy of the legal documentation requiring their presence in court.
Holidays:
The state of South Carolina provides the following holidays to employees. However, Greenville Technical College may establish holiday schedules differing from those observed by other state agencies to accommodate the academic calendars.

Greenville Technical College may designate specific state holidays as "floating holidays," equal to 8-hour days off with pay, that a staff employee who occupies a state FTE position can use during the calendar year with supervisor approval.

Participation in the state's retirement plan is mandatory for permanent employees and temporary employees with funds already on deposit with SCRS. Employee contribution rates are established by the SC General Assembly. Currently, employees contribute 9% of their gross salary. Contributions are deferred from federal and state income tax. Employer contribution rates are established by the SC Budget and Control Board.
