Can international students be considered residents?

International students are not considered residents of the state until they gain permanent resident status from the Immigration and Naturalization Service and have lived in South Carolina for one year after the "resident since" date on their card, or have provided verification of full-time employment in South Carolina.

Can I choose any major as an international student?

No, you must choose a major in one of the associate degree programs.

How many classes do I have to take a semester? And do I have to go in the summer?

International students must maintain full-time enrollment (12 credit hours). International students can only take one online course per term.

The summer is up to you. If you plan to travel during the summer, make sure your travel documents are up-to-date.

Can I work while I am in school?

International students are only authorized to work on-campus jobs.

Are there options for co-ops and internships for international students?

Yes, there are programs call CPT and OPT. Speak with the International Advisors in Admissions to set up these valuable job training opportunities.

How do I get a South Carolina Driver's License?

An International Advisor in Admissions can write you a letter to take to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles).
