Summer camps in STEM, culinary and more for rising 6th-8th graders!
Middle school students in Greenville County can explore fun learning opportunities at Greenville Technical College this summer. Camps in the areas of culinary, 3D printing, robotics, automotive and more will allow rising 6th through 8th graders to experience hands-on learning taught by leaders in the field.
2025 Camps
Basic Cooking & Baking Combo Week
4-day session, Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. - Noon

This camp is designed to provide young culinary enthusiasts with a comprehensive introduction to the art of cooking and baking. Through a series of hands-on activities, demonstrations, and expert guidance, participants will gain valuable knowledge and skills that will set them on a path to becoming proficient in the kitchen.
Throughout the camp, students will explore the fundamental techniques and principles of cooking and baking, including ingredient selection, food preparation, recipe reading, and proper cooking methods. With an emphasis on safety and hygiene, participants will learn how to handle kitchen tools and equipment responsibly, ensuring a secure and enjoyable cooking environment.
Create fresh pasta, homemade dressings, and brown butter cookies on Day 1. Master baking basics like bread, muffins, and s’mores-inspired cookies on Day 2. Day 3 focuses on cooking techniques, including stir-fry, fried rice, and roasted stuffed peppers, while Day 4 highlights baking delights like blueberry lemon rolls, mini peach pies, cake pops, and pavlovas. Global Gastronomy Part I

Mastering Cooking Week

In this camp, aspiring young chefs will embark on a culinary journey filled with creativity, skill-building, and the joy of cooking! Campers will have the opportunity to work with a diverse array of ingredients, honing their knife skills, mastering cooking techniques, and experimenting with flavors and textures. They will learn about the importance of food safety and hygiene.
Whether your camper dreams of becoming a professional chef or simply wishes to impress loved ones with their culinary creations, this camp will provide you with the skills and confidence to excel in the kitchen. On Day 1, sharpen your knife skills and sauté like a pro with dishes like seared scallops with lemon butter sauce and ratatouille confit byaldi. Day 2 focuses on advanced baking and roasting with creations like focaccia bread art and roasted Cornish hens. Day 3 is all about grilling and marinating with grilled chicken thighs, marinated flank steak, and grilled vegetables. As a bonus, each student will receive a model car to build from scratch, mastering the process of assembling car body parts and applying paint just like the pros. Automation & Robotics
