PACTeducation Program – Perkins Assistance for Career and Technical Education

  Assistance with purchasing necessary uniforms to meet course requirements

  Assistance with fees for credentialing exams for students who have completed all program requirements

  Assistance in the form of gas stipends

The PACTeducation Program assists qualifying students enrolled in career and technical education majors who apply for financial assistance with textbooks, program kits and tools, uniforms, credentialing exams and transportation through the Carl B. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act (Perkins Grant).  To qualify, students:

• Must be a returning Greenville Technical College student with at least 6 credit hours earned or a student transferring from another institution with a minimum of 6 transfer credit hours
• Must be enrolled in an approved career and technical education major - Eligible programs earn one of the following credentials:  Associate in Applied Science, Diploma in Applied Science, Certificate in Applied Science, or Bachelor in Applied Science.
• Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
• Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25
• Must be from one or more of the following special populations outlined in the Carl B. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act:
  
  • Individuals with disabilities
  • Individuals preparing for nontraditional fields
  • Single parents, including single pregnant women
  • Economically disadvantaged
  • Out-of-workforce individuals
  • English learners
  • Homeless individuals 
  • Students in, or have aged out of, the foster care system
  • Students with a parent who is a member of the armed forces and is on active duty 

Students who meet the entry qualifications will be provided additional information on how to remain eligible for assistance while enrolled in the career and technical education program of study.

• Students in Associate in Arts and Associate in Science programs are not eligible. 
• No assistance will be given if a student loan is in default.
• Students must be in good academic standing with the college.

Students who meet the entry qualifications need to complete the following:

• Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available at the Financial Aid Office or at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
