The purpose of this Policy is to provide GTC employees with awareness and guidance regarding their responsibility to the college and the State to approach every decision and action in an ethical manner, both in fact and in appearance.
The provisions of this Policy and any related Procedures will be in accordance with all State laws including the State Ethics, Government Accountability, and Campaign Reform Act, and the South Carolina Technical College System (“SCTECH”) Policies and Procedures available on the insertion date of this policy. The GTC policy will also incorporate the college’s Core Values and Standards of Behavior.
It is the policy of Greenville Technical College that all employees will perform their duties and conduct themselves in an ethical and accountable manner in keeping with applicable provisions of the State Ethics, Government Accountability, and Campaign Reform Act (“State Ethics Act”), and all related policies, procedures, regulations, or interpretations thereof. Failure to adhere to the provisions of this Policy, the State Ethics Act, and any other related policies and procedures may result in personal liability, other penalties as outlined in the law, and/or agency disciplinary action.
Where there are inconsistencies between Greenville Technical College’s Ethics policy and related procedures and the State Ethics Act, or other applicable laws, the document containing the most restrictive provisions will prevail.
Greenville Technical College’s employees are public employees and are therefore subject to all of the provisions of the State Ethics, Government Accountability, and Campaign Reform Act, and all related policies, procedures, regulations, or interpretations thereof.
All Greenville Technical College employees are expected to adhere to and follow the Rules of Conduct as outlined in the Ethics Reform Act.
The Rules of Conduct, Sections 8-13-700 through 8-13-795 of the 1976 South Carolina Code of Laws, as Amended (see “Other Related Links” below), should be consulted for specific information.
Failure to comply with/follow this policy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
