POLICY
Until formal acceptance into an associate degree program within the School of Health Sciences, students are enrolled as Associate in Science (AS.SCI) majors. Students must complete a supplemental admissions process and be accepted into the program. Programs that require a supplemental admissions process include Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Emergency Medical Technology, Health Information Management, Medical Laboratory Technology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiologic Technology, and Respiratory Care.
PROCEDURE
- Once accepted to the college, the student who applied as one of the above majors is enrolled as an AS.SCI major with a program specialization (Ex: XDHG for Dental Hygiene).
- Students who have already graduated from the AS.SCI major will be coded as undecided and should consult with his/her advisor for further discussion and with Financial Aid Office to understand how his/her financial aid may be impacted.
- Once accepted into a School of Health Sciences degree program, a “Program of Study Change” form must be completed by the student, sent to the Dean's office for approval by a program official, and then processed by student records. NOTE: This change can only be handled by the Dean's office and program officials.
- The AS.SCI major will remain active.
- The program specialization will be closed.
- If a student falls out of progression from their program of study in the School of Health Sciences, their program major will be closed by the program official. Students out of progression should consult with his/her advisor for further discussion and with Financial Aid Office to understand how his/her financial aid may be impacted.
- Students without an active major will be coded as Undecided.
