No, new students must register with an academic advisor.

No. Greenville Technical College has an open door policy. To earn an associate degree from most of our programs, you must have an accepted high school diploma or GED. However, we do offer programs that do not require proof of graduation or GED. See more about Admissions Requirements.

No. You can take our placement test.

Before we can determine acceptance of diploma, we must receive documentation of the school's accreditation. Upon receipt, we can check to see if the accrediting body is a member of our regionally accrediting body which is necessary because of our Title IV funding. When a student is absent from Greenville Technical College for three consecutive semesters or one year, the student must submit a new application. Their prior record will then be merged with their new application. See returning students.

In order to get an official copy of your transcript from Greenville Technical College, you will need to submit a request. See Transcript Requests.

Scores from these tests are valid for 5 years from the date that the test was taken.

Plan 60 eligible students must be a legal resident of SC, not employed full-time and at least sixty (60) years of age. To apply for credit courses through Plan 60, complete the Plan 60 form, then complete Step 1 (applying to the college), which includes the completed form for Legal Presence in the US. Plan 60 is a tuition-only waiver program - students are responsible for paying the student fee, technology fee and books/materials fees. Plan 60 covers tuition that is not paid by a third party. If a student is eligible for Pell or Lottery Tuition Assistance, Plan 60 will cover the remainder. Some courses may require proof of a pre-requisite, so you will also submit scores and transcripts or take placement tests. Enrollment in classes is permitted on a space availability basis only.

After you have submitted all documentation and/or testing to meet the admissions requirements, you will be accepted to the college. You will complete an advising survey and register for a planning and advising session. At this session, you will meet with advisors or faculty advisors for your major. You will learn how to use the Student Planning tool and will be granted permission to register for classes.

The application is online and it is free. If you need assistance, please visit the computer lab at the Dreisbach/Anderson Student Success Center or any of our campuses for assistance. They can help you apply for financial aid as well.

As soon as you submit your online application, you will receive an e-mail confirmation stating that we have successfully received your application as well as an e-mail outlining the steps of what to do next. Within 7 -10 business days, you will receive a letter that outlines your next steps in the process.

If you have previously attended another college or university and wish to transfer to Greenville Technical College, you'll complete Step 1 (apply to the college) and Step 3 (complete the FAFSA, if applying for financial aid). Next, contact the Admissions office or enrollment services at any of our campuses. If you have 12 college transfer credits with a grade of a C or higher, you may not need to submit high school transcripts or take the placement test.

Re-admit students should follow the Returning Student enrollment steps: complete Step 1 (apply to the college) and Step 3 (complete the FAFSA, if applying for financial aid) then contact the Admissions office or enrollment services at any of our campuses before completing any other steps.

Students desiring to change their program of study after enrolling should follow these steps:

1. If you are undecided about your program of study contact enrollment services at the Dreisbach/Anderson Student Success Center for assistance.
2. Bring your completed Program Change Form, along with your current picture ID, as indicated below (choose only one).
   • If you have submitted your application for admission, but not yet completed the steps for admissions and want to change your start term or program of study, bring your paperwork to the Office of Admissions or to enrollment services at any of our campuses.
   • If you are in a non-degree seeking program and wish to declare a major, bring your paperwork to the Office of Admissions or to enrollment services at any of our campuses.
   • If you have already been accepted, whether or not you have registered for classes, bring your paperwork to the Office of Student Records or to enrollment services at any of our campuses.

The staff will review all paperwork, documentation and advise you of the next step.

1. New students are new to Greenville Technical College and have never been a student at Greenville Technical College. You will complete steps 1 – 7
2. Current students are those currently enrolled this semester at Greenville Technical College. You'll register for your next classes through Student Planning.

A re-admit student has attended Greenville Technical College before but has not been at Greenville Technical College for the past three (3) consecutive semesters or more. See returning student directions.
