Girl Rising, a feature film and global action campaign for girls? education, will be presented by the Greenville Technical College Honors Program on Thursday, January 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the TRC Auditorium on the Barton Campus. Discussion will follow. The public is invited, and admission is free. The film, by Academy Award-nominated director Richard E. Robbins, spotlights the remarkable stories of nine girls around the world striving beyond circumstance and overcoming nearly insurmountable odds to achieve their dreams. The film highlights the importance of educating girls to break cycles of poverty in just one generation. Stories told show that educating girls can transform families, communities, and entire countries.
