Three students from Greenville Technical College were named to South Carolina?s 2014 Phi Theta Kappa All-State Academic Team. An awards ceremony was held on March 18 at the South Carolina State House in Columbia with award presentations made by the S.C. Technical College System and Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges. Students selected from Greenville Tech were Norris D. Beale of Simpsonville, Lorraine Joy Maxey of Taylors, and Andrew Douglas Rausch of Pickens. They and 20 other team members from technical colleges across the state were chosen for demonstration of outstanding academic achievement and an impressive record of service to their colleges. Beale, who is earning an associate degree in science (nursing), is an active member of Phi Theta Kappa who has been named to the dean?s list. His community activities include the Greenville Track Club. Maxey is earning an associate degree in arts and an associate degree in sciences. An active Phi Theta Kappa member, she is also a member of the Alpha Upsilon Alpha Honor Society, the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society, the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society, and the dean?s list. Her activities include service with the South Carolina Education Association and Teachers Educating All Children (TEACh). Rausch has been named to the President?s List, has received the Ladson Gentry Cubbage Sr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Entrepreneurial Education and has participated in the Successful Entrepreneurship Lecture Series. Owner of Southern Mountain Honey, he is a member of the South Carolina State Beekeepers Association and the Pickens County Beekeepers Association.
