Greenville Technical College?s Adult Postsecondary Transition Center (APTC) opened today, aimed at serving adult learners. The center is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor?s Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training initiative (TAACCCT), which promotes skill development and employment opportunities. Grant funds created a partnership of educators called SC ACCELERATE with members including Greenville Tech and Spartanburg Community College, Technical College of the Lowcountry, Tri-County Technical College, Trident Technical College, York Technical College, and Clemson University?s Center for Workforce Development. The mission of SC ACCELERATE is to expand educational and career pathways for adult learners while preparing them for high-skill/high-demand occupations in the state?s expanding advanced manufacturing sector. Efforts are aimed at veterans and their spouses as well as Trade Adjustment Assistance-eligible participants, and adults age 25 and over. Services available at the APTC include guidance through the Greenville Tech admissions process, individualized career counseling and planning assistance, soft skills workshops, access to community resources, access to online tutorials, and resources that assist veterans with benefits, employment, education, and more. The APTC is located at McAlister Square, suite C-16, and is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 to 4 p.m. For more information, call the APTC Director, Kimberly Martin, at 864-467-8863.
