China and glassware valued at more than $27,000 have been donated to the Culinary Institute of the Carolinas at Greenville Technical College by The Cliffs. The donation will be used by culinary students as they train and learn dining room services as well as food preparation and presentation. The Cliffs is an award-winning collection of seven residential communities located between Greenville, SC, and Asheville, NC, where one membership gives you access to amenities at all seven locations. The Cliffs Culinary Team is comprised of some of the nation?s most accomplished chefs who have trained with James Beard and Michelin Star Award-winners. For years, graduates of the Culinary Institute of the Carolinas at Greenville Technical College have gone on to promising careers at The Cliffs. David Sawyer, Executive Vice President of Cliffs Clubs, said, ?The Cliffs is proud to support the culinary programs at Greenville Technical College. We look forward to employing their talented apprentices and alumni in our 21 dining outlets throughout our seven clubs.? The Cliffs currently employs over 550 people to support its standard-setting hospitality programs. The Culinary Institute offers an associate in applied science degree in Culinary Arts Technology along with two certificates in applied science ? Baking and Pastry Arts and Culinary Education. The Culinary arts concentration of the associate degree is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Educational Foundation, which means that the program meets or exceeds an established standard of excellence and remains current with industry expectations. Skills taught by the Culinary Institute include fundamentals of culinary and baking science, safety and sanitation laws and regulations, nutrition, menu preparation, food service equipment, quality standards and food regulations, customer service, business etiquette and manners, and more. All classes are taught in state-of-the-art facilities that include five kitchens and utilizing the finest tools of the trade such as programmable combination ovens and blast chillers. Students gain real-world experience while serving customers during events held in the upscale dining room. ?The Culinary Institute of the Carolinas at Greenville Technical College is well-known for the highest quality education.
