From 1937 to 1945, Jews, Gypsies, Slavs, communists, homosexuals, the mentally and physically disabled, and members of other groups were targeted and methodically murdered in the largest genocide of the 20th century. Eleven million people were killed during the Holocaust, including more than a million children. Of the nine million Jews who had resided in Europe before the Holocaust, approximately two-thirds were killed. Holocaust Remembrance Week at Greenville Technical College is an effort to inform and educate the public on the often catastrophic consequences of social and political silence and indifference. The Holocaust and its Historical Context Monday, November 10, 2014 ? 6-8:30 p.m. TRC Auditorium, Greenville Technical College, Barton Campus GTC faculty discuss issues and events of the Holocaust. Storyboards on the Holocaust and Other Genocides: A Self-Paced Walking Tour Tuesday, November 11, 2014 ? 8 a.m.-8 p.m. TRC Library, Greenville Technical College, Barton Campus Students will display Holocaust research. Movie ?Falkenau the Impossible? Wednesday, November 12, 2014 ? 4:30-6 p.m. TRC Auditorium, Greenville Technical College, Barton Campus A film depicting the liberation of the camp at Falkenau followed by a discussion. Faces of the Holocaust: Two Women and their Stories of Survival Thursday, November 13, 2014 ? 6-8:30 p.m. Eastlan Baptist Church, 625 S. Pleasantburg Drive (adjacent to main entrance of Greenville Tech) Trude Heller and Ruth Steinfeld will recount their stories of survival. All events and free and open to the public.
