As part of Greenville Technical College?s service learning program, accounting students are once again partnering with the United Way of Greenville County to provide free tax preparation services for those who make $53,000 or less per year. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) works to ensure everyone in the community receives all of the tax credits and deductions for which they are eligible. An appointment is required and can be obtained by calling 2-1-1. Services at Greenville Technical College are available: February 9 ? April 14 Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1 ? 6 p.m. Saturdays, 9 a.m. ? 1 p.m. TRC (Building 102), Room 151 Service learning allows students to combine classroom instruction with meaningful community service. In 2014, the VITA Coalition (which includes United Ways of Greenville, Pickens, Spartanburg, Anderson and Laurens counties) prepared more than 8,700 tax returns, bringing approximately $9.1 million in tax refunds to the Upstate.
