In an effort to continue dialogue with Greenville County businesses about future information technology skills needs, Greenville Technical College, in cooperation with Apprenticeship Carolina, will host a Workforce Opportunity Summit Thursday, April 30 from 8:00 to 11:30 am at the Buck Mickel Center located at 216 South Pleasantburg Drive.
The event will include an Industry Roundtable Discussion with instructors and officials from Greenville Technical College and Greenville County Schools to discuss what skills and programs are essential to creating a knowledgeable workforce pipeline within the information technology field. Industry survey results will also be presented during the event.
"Information technology is an essential part of our lives and our businesses in the Upstate," said Leslie Trant, Dean of the Corporate & Career Development Division at Greenville Technical College. "IT changes quickly and thus the technical training necessary to maintain a skilled workforce must adapt with it. Participation and input from employers is vital for providing educational institutions with critical information regarding future skills and hiring needs for the IT field."
The event is open to information technology professionals involved in the hiring and selection of professionals within this fast growing industry. For additional information or to register contact Kelley Roark at (864) 250-8070 or Kelley.Roark@gvltec.edu.
