The Empowering Tomorrow Capital Campaign, an undertaking launched by the Greenville Tech Foundation in May 2014 with a goal of $3 million, has resulted in gifts, pledges, and planned gifts totaling $3,070,700. Though that significant milestone has been achieved, the campaign will continue in order to raise money for scholarships, equipment, and other needs that support high quality education at Greenville Technical College (GTC).
“We are grateful for the community’s support of this campaign. That help is evidence of the success that Greenville Technical College has had in developing our workforce,” said Bob Howard, president of the foundation. “Even though we have reached a fundraising milestone, our efforts must continue so that the college can meet our responsibility to employers, students, and the community.”
Of the money raised, $1 million has been designated for scholarships, $484,000 has been donated for equipment needs, and $1.6 million is to be used for other needs of the college.
Among the donations is a $500,000 planned gift by a retired faculty member who once served as director of the college’s Writing Center, where students can receive supplemental instruction and support as they complete English assignments. That gift will be designated for supplies and equipment that will support the center’s instructional needs.
