Greenville Technical College’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society achieved a new record at the Carolinas Regional Convention last weekend, winning 16 awards along with $650 in scholarship money for students to travel to regional conferences.
The previous chapter record was 13 awards and $250 in scholarship money. Members of the group and their faculty advisor, Dr. Anita Tam, are particularly proud to be recognized as first runner-up in the Most Distinguished Chapter category out of 84 chapters in the Carolinas Region.
Phi Theta Kappa’s purpose is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. Since 1918, 3,155,896 students have participated in PTK, with members achieving an average GPA of 3.8 and an average graduation rate of 92%.
