Dick Graham, a long-time supporter of Greenville Technical College’s Benson Campus, was recognized on Feb. 13 when the Arthur R. (Dick) Graham Boardroom at the campus was named in his honor.
Graham was a founding member and first chairman of the Greer Campus Advisory Board, beginning in 1989. He served as an integral figure in the planning and development of the campus, renamed Benson Campus in 2014, scouting potential building sites and garnering support throughout the business and political community.
In 1991, Graham started the Mary M. Graham Book Fund through the Greenville Tech Foundation and later established the Mary M. Graham Endowed Student Book Fund in 2005. Since 2006, the fund has assisted nearly 80 students with books and supplies. Graham, along with Senator Verne Smith and United Carolina Bank, began a Greer Campus Scholarship fund in 1993. And he continues to give. A 2014 gift purchased several internal information monitors and equipment. The Benson Campus can display events, activities, and important updates for students, faculty and staff.
In 2010, Graham was awarded the Outstanding Philanthropist Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals and is currently listed in the Thomas E. Barton, Jr. Society through the Greenville Tech Foundation. He continues to actively serve as chairman emeritus of the Benson Campus Advisory Board and carries on his tradition of being on campus at the beginning of each Fall Semester to welcome and direct students to their classrooms.
