In response to the needs of business and industry, Greenville Technical College’s Economic Development and Corporate Training Division has announced a new corporate training partnership program launched today. The program aligns college offerings with the requirements of companies that plan employee development on an annual basis with a July 1 fiscal kickoff.
The corporate training partnership program provides companies two distinct options to meet their workforce needs. The first is a subscription-based option, which allows employers to purchase a variety of training services for a defined number of employees identified by the company. This will allow companies the opportunity to pay for training in advance for the year and schedule the training with Greenville Technical College on demand.
“Our local businesses have mentioned several times that it would be beneficial for them to allocate funds for training in advance. They have asked for the flexibility to request the training when needed because their needs and business operations change frequently. We believe this program will meet their needs,” said Dr. Jermaine Whirl, vice president of economic development and corporate training.
The second option provides a company’s employees with an incentive to utilize tuition reimbursement funds provided by their employer or simply take advantage of continuing education professional development offerings to upgrade their skills in the workplace. A preferred provider training partner option means that companies sign an agreement designating Greenville Technical College as their preferred training partner and in return, the company’s employees receive a discount on all professional development training offerings valued over $500. With all partnership agreements, Greenville Technical College will co-brand and co-market the training opportunities collaboratively.
Training offered through these options will include quality/management offerings such as Lean Six Sigma, project management, ISO, situational leadership, supervisory leadership, team building, and a new and very popular option, culinary team building, training that allows groups to build trust as they create meals together. In the skilled trades area, options include welding, machine tool technology, computer numerical control (CNC), metrology, additive manufacturing, and mechatronics. Environmental health and safety options include OSHA, hazmat, building operator certification, waste water certification, lead and asbestos removal, fire brigade and hazwoper training, and in the healthcare arena, training includes the medical scribe curriculum now required by many health systems for certified medical assistants. Additional services offered through the program include facilitation of strategic planning and problem solving.
