Eric Bedingfield will return to Greenville Technical College (GTC), where he earned an associate degree in mechanical engineering technology in 1988, to serve as government affairs liaison.
A Michelin Tech Scholar at GTC, Bedingfield began his career with the company in 1988, spending six years at Michelin Tire Corporation as an electromechanical technician. He later worked in similar capacities for Cryovac/Sealed Air Corporation and Fuji Photo Film. Bedingfield’s political experience includes four years as a member of Greenville County Council, eight years as a senior advisor and campaign manager for Congressman Mick Mulvaney, and 11 years as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives.
Bedingfield’s resignation from his elected position is effective on January 18, 2018. Until January, his role at Greenville Technical College, which begins Sept. 5, will focus on getting to know the college, its five campuses and 100+ programs, and its partners in the business community.
“Based on his own experience at Greenville Technical College, Eric has a passion for what the college delivers,” said Dr. Keith Miller, president of GTC. “As he builds relationships with community leaders, I believe he will have a strong impact on the college and its students.”
"Greenville Technical College has played an instrumental role in my life, from both an educational and career standpoint,” said Bedingfield. “It's where my work life kicked off in industry and where many of my leadership skills began to develop. I can't wait to get started."
