UPDATE 2-5-18: The Spring Semester appointments have been filled. There is still some limited availability for appointments in the Summer Semester, May 23-Aug. 2. Please note that if you are interested in an appointment in the Summer Semester, only those expectant mothers between 22-30 weeks at the time of the appointment are eligible to qualify for this service and a doctor's permission is required.
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Greenville Technical College is offering appointments to the public for free OB ultrasounds at the Barton Campus now through July during both the Spring and Summer semester.
These ultrasounds are performed by students in the ultrasound lab under direct supervision. Live 4D scanning will be performed and 3D pictures will be provided to all patients.
Typically this is a fun and educational time for parents as they get to hear more about what sonographers do during an ultrasound as well as see their baby's growth. Parents are allowed to bring children and other family members and exams take about one hour.
Interested parents should note:
- Scanning labs are for mothers-to-be between 22-30 weeks gestational age.
- Written approval from your primary OB physician on either physician office letterhead or prescription pad is required and must reflect the patient’s name to participate in the lab.
- Labs are for training purposes only and will in no way be a substitute for your official ultrasound examination ordered by your physician.
- A release form must be signed prior to scan.
Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals must have their permission slip from their doctor in hand when scheduling an appointment.
