Dr. Kathryn Hix, an assistant professor of English at Greenville Technical College (GTC), has been selected as the recipient of the 2018 Cowan Award. The award, presented by the Two-Year College English Association Southeast, recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional skills in instruction, develop creative approaches to curriculum and instruction, and exhibit a leadership role within the academic department.
The Two-Year College English Association Southeast is committed to providing a framework for professional activities among English teachers at southeastern two-year colleges and works to explore issues relevant to improvement of teaching the subject in the region.
A member of the faculty at GTC since 2007, Hix earned an undergraduate degree in English and political science from Presbyterian College, a master’s degree in English from Converse College, and a Ph.D. in education from Lesley University.
