College students looking to take a class or two this summer to either “catch up or get ahead” – and even potentially save thousands in their overall education costs – are welcome to take advantage of Greenville Technical College’s Transient Visiting student enrollment. The 2018 Summer Semester begins May 21.
“Often students choose to attend Greenville Tech in the summer to either lighten their fall or spring course load, recover from a dropped course or even allow themselves to complete their program of study and graduate early,” said Tanisha Latimer, dean of Enrollment Services. “For the Transient Visiting student, our classes can easily transfer back to the student’s ‘home’ college.”
According to Complete College America’s “15 to Finish” initiative, students who take more credits in a year – including summer classes – are more likely to improve academic performance, stay in college and finish college. Often those who take summer classes are eligible to graduate early, which can potentially save the student thousands in tuition costs.
Any student in “good standing” at another regionally-accredited institution can apply to Greenville Technical College as a Transient Visiting student. These students can choose from any of GTC’s transferable courses in Arts & Sciences, Business, Public Service and Technology programs and are encouraged to review any course prerequisites prior to registration.
Those considering Transient Visiting student registration are encouraged to begin the application process this month so they can be ready to register for classes when Open Registration begins April 9. Transfer Visiting students are allowed to register for classes where seats are available but are not eligible to be placed on class waitlists. Transient Visiting students must also submit a completed permission form from the dean or registrar of their home college in order to complete Greenville Tech’s enrollment process.
