The Greenville Technical College Dental Hygiene Clinic on the Barton Campus is now seeking new patients for the Fall 2018 Semester, beginning August 20. Adult, children and adolescent patients are welcomed.
Patient services are offered at a reduced cost and allow dental hygiene students real-life clinical experience under the supervision of dentists and licensed hygienists. Patient selection is based on clinical need and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Our primary goal is to provide students with patients whose treatment needs will serve to enhance the students’ clinical skills. Only those individuals whose treatment needs match the educational requirements of our students will be selected as patients,” said Kelly Donovan, academic program director of Dental Hygiene.
The cost of a dental hygiene treatment, which includes plaque and tartar removal (including deep cleaning and root planing as needed), fluoride application and nutritional counseling, is $20 for an adult, $15 for a child (age 11 and under) and $10 for a senior citizen (age 55 and over). Greenville Technical College students, employees and their children receive a discounted price for this service of $10 each.
X-rays are also available at a reduced cost, with a full mouth or Panorex service costing $20. Sealants are $5 per tooth. No restorative treatments, such as fillings, crowns or extractions, are performed in the clinic.
Payment is required at the initial visit, and a photo ID is required at each visit. Patients are asked to prepare for a three-hour appointment time to allow for the necessary student and instructor assessments. Multiple appointments may be necessary on a case-by-case basis.
