Rebecca Clark has been named director of the Honors Program at Greenville Technical College. A member of the college’s English faculty since 2016, she has also taught composition, rhetoric, and literature at other colleges across the Upstate.
Clark earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Coastal Carolina University with a focus on Victorian literature and an Honors Program certificate. She also earned a master’s degree in English from Clemson University with a focus on Victorian literature and digital humanities.
“My desire to see students set goals and succeed draws me to technical colleges where students’ unparalleled drive is challenged by the rigor and expectations of all departments and programs, especially that of the Honors Program itself,” said Clark.
The mission of the Honors Program at Greenville Technical College is to enhance the academic experience for bright, highly-motivated students who desire a challenge, take responsibility for learning, and seek intellectual and cultural stimulation. This motivated community of scholars has opportunities beyond the traditional classroom to develop their potential through community service projects, cultural engagement events, colloquia, and leadership activities that connect with their enriched academic coursework. Small, challenging classes encourage give-and-take between student and instructor, enhance opportunities for independent research, and allow the student to pursue individual goals.
