The Greenville Tech Foundation will honor three major donors and highlight their critical role in helping the college develop qualified students for local employment at the 2019 Workforce Development Salute. The event will be held on Thursday, October 3,
This event is an annual salute to the community’s businesses, individuals, and partners for their significant support of the workforce development and education efforts of Greenville Technical College. Proceeds from the evening provide unrestricted funds in support of the college’s mission of transforming lives through education.
With over 400 community and business leaders expected, the Workforce Development Salute features the many ways the partnership between the Foundation, Greenville Technical College, and the business community influences the quality of education, applied learning skills, and success of students who are well-prepared to enter the workforce. Support from this year’s honorees also provides a pathway for economic opportunity and upward mobility for Greenville Technical College students and their families.
“This year, we honor donors who are using their resources to create a cycle of success in our community,” said Dr. Keith Miller, president of Greenville Technical College. “Dodie Anderson is a graduate helping current students achieve as she did, the Jolley Foundation is providing scholarships and funds to help students overcome barriers to completion, and Lockheed Martin supports our students with scholarships, equipment, and facilities. We are grateful to these and all of our donors for their support.”
“The partners we honor this year show a broad spectrum of support making a difference for our students, our employers, and our Upstate economy. One has given the resources we need to create a student success center, another sees that students have the funds to enroll and assists with emergency needs, and the third has helped us create a welcoming environment for our student veterans while also meeting many other needs,” said Ann Wright, vice president for advancement with the Greenville Tech Foundation. “We honor these donors who have chosen to invest in our students, the college, and our community.”
