The Foundation for Geriatric Education has donated $4,150 to Greenville Technical College (GTC) to allow for the purchase of tools that will improve geriatric education for students in the Nursing Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Occupational Therapy Assistant programs.
The foundation was established by Dr. Carl Adams, founder of NHC Healthcare, and is funded through money raised by employees. Money is used to purchase equipment, videos, and books that improve the quality of education in the field of geriatrics. NHC Healthcare Mauldin and NHC Healthcare Greenville contributed equally to the Greenville Technical College gift.
This gift will allow for the purchase of a series of DVDs on dementia for Nursing Assistant students along with a geriatric simulator and teaching tools for Physical Therapist Assistant and Occupational Therapy Assistant students. The simulator is a wearable suit that enables students to personally experience age-related physical and sensory changes while the accompanying tools include presentation slides and assessment activities.
NHC Healthcare is a longtime supporter of the allied health and nursing programs at GTC. In addition to monetary gifts over the years, the company allows all of the college’s Nursing Assistant and Patient Care Technician students to gain
