Greenville Technical College (GTC) has joined Quality Matters (QM) — the international leader for quality assurance in online and innovative digital teaching and learning environments. Membership, which includes 1,500 organizations, is aimed at removing barriers to success for online learners.
Quality Matters membership provides Greenville Technical College with access to a comprehensive, research-supported quality assurance process to design and develop accessible, engaging online courses. Additional tools and resources allow GTC to evaluate course and program design to ensure that the needs of today’s online learners are being met. QM’s professional development opportunities provide faculty and staff with a pathway to develop and strengthen key online design and delivery skills.
“Greenville Technical College works to put students first as they enroll, as they learn, and as they make progress toward their educational and career goals. Joining the QM community aligns perfectly with these goals,” said Dr. Larry Miller, vice president of learning and workforce development at GTC. “We want our online learners — every one of them — to achieve at the highest level and are committed to creating learning environments that provide a clear pathway to success.”
QM membership will have immediate impact at GTC as faculty begin training this summer and courses undergo revision for a Spring Semester 2022 launch. “We expect students to notice that these revamped courses are consistent in layout so they don’t have to search for what they need,” said Dr. Shannon Creighton, director of online learning at GTC. “They’ll also see additional resources, new types of assignments, and greater focus on real-world learning. We’re excited about this strong effort to enhance online options and resulting student outcomes.”
