An open house will be held on Tuesday, November 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Greenville Technical College in the Community Room of building 102 on the Barton Campus for programs covered by the recently announced Workforce Scholarships for the Future initiative. With the scholarships covering high demand career programs in healthcare, manufacturing, hospitality/tourism, construction, transportation, distribution and logistics, criminal justice, early care and education, and human services, anyone interested in gaining the skills for a strong career while paying $0 in tuition is invited to attend.
Governor Henry McMaster announced the scholarships on November 3, 2021, as a head-on method of addressing the state’s labor shortage, giving South Carolinians the skills to succeed, and helping the state attract additional jobs and investment from companies worldwide.
The event is designed to take participants from application to advising. Experts will be on hand to discuss the careers and local employment needs, financial aid representatives will guide potential students through scholarship requirements, and advisors will help attendees get started with the Spring Semester classes needed to take advantage of the scholarships, which begin January 1, 2022.
