William Brothers has been selected as the new dean for the School of Education and Professional Studies at Greenville Technical College. He is responsible for oversight of an academic school that encompasses programs in cosmetology, criminal justice, early care & education, human services, and paralegal along with the college’s Culinary Institute of the Carolinas.
An experienced higher education professional with more than a decade of teaching and administrative experience, Brothers has most recently served as vice president for financial and administrative services and interim director of facilities and operations at Southwestern Community College in Sylva, N.C. In this capacity, he has overseen the financial, human resources, and infrastructure operations of the college.
Brothers is past vice president and president of the North Carolina Association for Community College Business Officials and was selected as the initial content developer and presenter for the North Carolina Student Service Officer Leadership Program, budget and fiscal resources section. In addition, he is a graduate of the NC Community College Leadership Program.
An Upstate native, Brothers graduated from Liberty High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from Southern Wesleyan University, a master’s degree in entrepreneurship from Western Carolina University, an M.B.A. from Western Carolina University, a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Waldorf University, and an Ed.S. in instructional leadership from Nova Southeastern University. In addition, he has earned credentials from the Human Resource Certification Institute.
