Thomas “Tom” R. Britt, Jr., president of Bank of Travelers Rest, has been appointed by the Greenville Legislative Delegation to serve a four-year term on the Greenville Technical College Area Commission, the college’s governing board.
Britt, a Greenville native, has been with the bank since 1992 and in the banking and finance industry since 1983. He received an A.A. from North Greenville College and a B.S. from the University of South Carolina, Spartanburg. As a commercial lender and banking executive, he has further degrees from RMA Commercial Lending School at East Carolina University, the University of South Carolina’s Bankers School, and the Mary Brewer Institute of Insurance.
Britt is a graduate of Leadership Greer whose service to the community includes the Greer Rotary Club, Cherrydale Area Council, and March of Dimes Walk-Spartanburg (former chairman). He currently serves as board chairman for the Appalachian Development Corporation.
The Greenville Technical College Area Commission consists of 12 voting members. Ray Lattimore, founder and president of Marketplace Staffing Services, Inc., serves as chair. Jo Watson Hackl, a corporate attorney with Wyche, P.A., is vice chair, and S. Hunter Howard, Jr., owner and CEO of The Springs in Simpsonville, is secretary.
