Greenville Technical College (GTC) will offer the Career Pathways Scholarship — worth up to $5,000 a year for tuition, books and course-related materials— beginning Fall Semester 2023 for students pursuing education that addresses statewide workforce shortages.
At GTC, all credit-based offerings are included in the Career Pathways Scholarship with the exception of Arts & Sciences programs, the applied bachelor’s degree in advanced manufacturing technology, and courses taken by dual enrollment students. Non-credit programs in Commercial Truck Driving, Phlebotomy, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Patient Care Technician are also included.
In addition, the college’s governing board has voted to freeze tuition at current rates through Summer Semester 2024. Some fees will increase beginning Fall Semester 2023.
While the associate of arts and associate of sciences degrees that transfer to four-year institutions are excluded from the Career Pathways Scholarship, students in those programs are paying considerably less for the same credits than what they would pay elsewhere, and some students may be eligible for other scholarships or funds.
In order to qualify for the Career Pathway Scholarship at GTC, students must be South Carolina residents, be enrolled in an eligible program, have a high school diploma or GED, take six credit hours or more, have a 2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file at GTC, and have a cumulative 2.0 GTC GPA. (This does not apply to new students who have never had a previous academic record at GTC.) Tuition and eligible fees can be covered by the Career Pathways Scholarship at GTC if a balance remains after Federal and State grants and scholarships are applied: Pell Grant, FSEOG, SC Lottery Tuition Assistance, SC LIFE Scholarship etc.
