Greenville Technical College is expanding its youth summer day camp opportunities this year to include more options for middle and high school students as well as new virtual sessions in STEAM programming for children ages eight to 10.
Adventure Tech summer day camps for sixth to eighth graders returns in summer 2021 with in-person programming for its popular camps in culinary, vet care, advanced manufacturing, dining etiquette, coding and app and game design. It also adds a new virtual year-round option in STEAM programming in areas like virtual reality, eSports, digital arts, creative writing and more. Most camps are offered in four-day morning or afternoon sessions.
Accelerate U for rising high school freshmen through seniors presents hand-on, in-person summer day camps in culinary at GTC’s new Truist Culinary and Hospitality Innovation Center (CHI). These four-day, half-day sessions will give students a chance to explore Mediterranean cooking July 12-15 as well as attend “BBQ University” July 26-29.
Also launching this April are Accelerate U Pop-up Camps. These one-day, four-hour culinary camps for current ninth through 12th graders continue the summer camp fun year round. Topics like “Parisian Pastries,” “Tacos, Tortillas, Tamales,” and “Cooking for Life Bootcamp” provide lifelong cooking skills, a chance to enjoy “made from scratch” dishes, and a glimpse into the culinary profession.
The college’s new Adventure Tech Junior programming for eight to 10 year olds brings the fun and excitement of year-round day camps to a younger audience in a virtual setting. Adventure Tech’s virtual STEAM sessions in eSports, virtual reality and 3D design, creative writing, coding and game design begin the week of Spring Break.
In-person camp sessions run June 14-July 29, and virtual camp options are available year round. Registration for virtual camps is now open and in-person camp registration for Accelerate U and Adventure Tech begins April 6. In-person camps will follow GTC COVID-19 safety protocols, including all students, faculty and staff required to wear a mask or face covering inside GTC buildings and outside when not alone.
