Greenville Technical College Celebrates Graduates at Commencement

Commencement for Greenville Technical College graduates was held at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena on Thursday, Dec. 18. Included were 397 participants, 20 military veterans, 173 graduates with a GPA of 3.4 or higher, and 18 graduates with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Additional students graduated but did not participate in the ceremony with 1,379 awards projected this semester and an expected 1,216 unduplicated graduates.

Triple Triumph: Three Members of One Family Graduate Together

When the audience at commencement hears Carver Blassingame’s name on December 18, a graduate will step forward and proudly receive the diploma he’s worked years to achieve. A few minutes later, the same name will be called again, and although the audience may think there’s some mistake, a second handshake will take place, marking another degree conferred.

Greenville Technical College Takes Home Five NCMPR Medallion Awards

The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) has presented Greenville Technical College (GTC) with five Medallion awards, recognizing outstanding marketing, communications, and public relations achievements at community and technical colleges.

Greenville Technical College Hosts Free Application Day November 18

Greenville Technical College is hosting a free Application Day Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Dreisbach/Anderson Student Success Center to help students start Spring Semester. College staff will provide one-on-one help with applications, financial aid, required documentation, career planning and more.

Goodwill joins with Greenville Technical College to Support Students

The college held a drive-through donation event, collecting clothing and household goods for Goodwill. Based on the total weight of donations collected, Goodwill presented the college’s STAR (Student Assistance and Resources) Center with 20 $20 gift cards that students can use at Goodwill stores.

Greenville Technical College Signs Transfer Agreement with WGU

With the recent signing of a transfer institution agreement, Greenville Technical College (GTC) graduates will now be able to seamlessly transfer to online Western Governors University (WGU) to continue pursuing their higher education goals.

Academic Distinctions for Summer 2025 Semester Announced

Greenville Technical College announces President's and Dean's List honorees for the Summer 2025 Semester. The recognition includes 103 students earning the President's List designation, and 1,528 students achieving Dean's List honors.

GTC Adjusts Program Roster to Meet Current and Future Workforce Needs

Greenville Technical College (GTC) was founded in 1962 to provide skilled workers as the state moved from reliance on the textile industry to an expanded base of business and industry. In those early days, programs in Sewing Machine Mechanics and Fashion Merchandising were among the choices that filled workforce needs. Since that time, programs have been continuously evaluated, and based on a comprehensive review of relevant data, programs may be added, updated, or eliminated in response to the job market.

GTC Accounting Students Save Community Thousands Through Volunteer Tax Preparation

Students in an advanced accounting class at Greenville Technical College offered free tax preparation services to the community through the United Way Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program during the Spring Semester. The college has participated in this impactful initiative since 2012, saving the community thousands in tax preparation fees.

Four finalists named in search for next president of Greenville Technical College

The Greenville Technical College Area Commission has announced the selection of four finalists for the position of college president. This announcement follows a thorough search that yielded 61 applicants from across the community, state, and nation and a review and interview process that narrowed the field to 11 semi-finalists.

The College of Education at Clemson University has presented Greenville Technical College with a 2024 Distinguished Partner of the Year Award along with Tri-County Technical College. The award recognizes partnerships that provide sustained or innovative support.

Greenville Technical College Dedicates Executive Board Room to Paul and Ann Batson While Celebrating Their Record of Service

A donation from Paul and Ann Batson allowed an extensive renovation of Greenville Technical College’s executive board room to be completed in fall 2024. Changes included new furniture and state-of-the-art conferencing and meeting technology. Ribbon for the new space was cut on January 15 as Paul and Ann were recognized for their longstanding support of the college and higher education.
